MitoADAPT Overview
MitoADAPT is a line of light therapy panels from Mito Red Light, one of the planet’s most well-known red light therapy device companies. It has the correct specifications for reducing the signs of aging and exercise soreness. It’s particularly effective at reducing wrinkles and sagging, preventing delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and reducing inflammation in the skin and body.
Treatment with MitoADAPT improves mitochondrial function, meaning your cells can make more energy for healing and repair. It increases adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. This gives the skin more energy for cell turnover, collagen and elastin production, and repair. It energizes the body and skin to heal themselves. The MitoADAPT wavelengths include red and near-infrared (NIR) light as follows:
- 810 nm and 850 nm infrared
- 760-900 nm infrared
- 630 nm and 660 red
- 590-700 nm orange and red
The wide range of wavelengths increases the absorption rate and improves therapeutic results. This means you’re hitting a more comprehensive range of possible therapeutic responses than you would from using just two wavelengths.

Features
1. Models
MitoADAPT has four sizes: Min, Mid, Max, and Mega. The Min is a tabletop. The Mid is a half-body height. The Max is a full-body height. The Mega is larger than the full-body panel.
2. Presets
11 preset modes allow you to focus on 1-4 wavelengths simultaneously. 630 nm and 660 nm are red light. 810 nm and 850 nm are infrared light. I like to work while doing red light therapy, so I mostly use Mode 11. The red light is too bright while reading on my phone or the computer. Mode 11 is 100% infrared and almost invisible, so it doesn’t interfere with my work.
Modes:
- 630 nm, 660 nm, 810 nm, 830 nm (25% each)
- 630 nm, 660 nm (50% each)
- 660 nm, 810 nm, 850 nm (50%, 25%, 25%)
- 630 nm, 810 nm, 850 nm (50%, 25%, 25%)
- 630 nm, 660 nm, 850 nm (25%, 25%, 50%)
- 630 nm, 660 nm, 810 nm (25%, 25%, 50%)
- 660 nm (100%)
- 630 nm (100%)
- 850 nm (100%)
- 810 nm (100%)
- 810 nm, 850 nm (50%, 50%)
3. Wavelengths
The MitoADAPT has independent wavelengths: 630 nm and 660 nm are red light. 810 nm and 850 nm are infrared light. The red is shallower, and the infrared has deeper penetration. The 810 nm wavelength is the most well-tested one in dementia therapy. I can’t say if the infrared from a panel can reach the brain, but it’s good to know it’s the correct wavelength for better cognition. See the benefits of each wavelength in the Therapy section below.
4. Controls
You can control the MitoADAPT from the panel controls or a phone app. If you have multiple MitoADAPT devices hooked together, see the Master Controller section below.
5. Tracking
The phone app maintains a history of your sessions. Use this to keep a separate journal of how you feel after each session. You will see patterns emerge, allowing you to associate MitoADAPT modes with different outcomes. Outcomes include better skin health, feeling more energy, and faster recovery from exercise.
6. Master Controller
You can run multiple MitoADAPT devices from a master controller. The controller lets you simultaneously change the settings on up to four devices. It works for the Min, Mid, and Max, but not the Mega models.
7. Therapy
MitoADAPT supports improved muscle recovery. Red, but especially infrared light, absorbs in the mitochondria. Its presence helps create more energy that helps muscles recover from exercise and injury. It stimulates cellular energy production, which helps to repair damaged muscle tissue and reduce inflammation. MitoADAPT supports reduced inflammation.
Inflammation is a natural response to injury and infection. Chronic inflammation is harmful because the body attacks itself. Red light therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation. It stimulates cellular repair mechanisms and triggers transcription factors that reduce inflammation. MitoADAPT supports skin rejuvenation. The Mito ADAPT stimulates collagen and elastin production. New proteins repair the skin and smooth the texture.
The result is fewer wrinkles and lines. This technology also works well to reduce inflammatory acne. MitoADAPT might support improved cognition. Studies show that red light therapy enhances blood flow to the brain and reduces neuroinflammation. MitoADAPT supports enhanced athletic performance. In fact there have been several studies experiments comparing athletic performance with red light therapy to athletics without “enhancement.” Players who use red light therapy before play or regularly have faster recovery times, less muscle fatigue, and greater endurance.
Mitochondria are battery-producing structures. They create adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which are biological batteries. The body uses ATP wherever it is doing work. The light allows the body to make more ATP to power cellular processes. Red light therapy can, therefore, help improve muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and enhance skin health. Mitochondria are tiny organelles found in every cell of the body. They play a crucial role in cellular energy production.
Mitochondria convert the energy from the food we eat into ATP. The ATP molecule carries the energy that powers our cells. They create these molecules during cellular respiration, breaking down glucose through chemical reactions. The chemical reactions produce high-energy molecules (NADH and FADH2). The mitochondria use those electrons to pump ions across the mitochondrial inner matrix. Then, the mitochondria bond phosphate with adenosine diphosphate and use that ion energy.
The ATP molecule carries phosphate bonds that release energy when broken. A process that uses one phosphate bond drops ATP to ADP or adenosine diphosphate. It goes from having three to carrying two bonds. The mitochondria again use electrons ultimately from food to bind ADP with phosphate to make a new ATP molecule. Mitochondria are also involved in other cellular processes, such as calcium regulation and cell death.
An increase in calcium allows the mitochondria to send messages to the cell. Those messages are sometimes cytochrome c proteins that signal the cell that it’s time to commit programmed cell death (apoptosis). Therefore, proper mitochondrial health is essential to cellular function. Mito Red Light MitoADAPT is a red light therapy device that delivers specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to the body’s tissues.
The MitoADAPT outputs four wavelengths of light: two red and two infrared. Because LEDs output a range of wavelengths around the peak, the MitoADAPT outputs light from 700 nm to 900 nm. The large range gives this device an advantage over other red light therapy devices. The mitochondria have multiple absorption peaks, and the MitoADAPT hits all of them in one session. This technology is designed to provide the maximum benefit with the least exposure time. This is how the MitoADAPT supports improvements in muscle recovery, reduced inflammation, enhanced skin health, and more.

Our Take
The MitoADAPT excels at exercise recovery and anti-aging action. The red and infrared wavelengths are anti-inflammatory and promote cell turnover and ATP production.
The wavelengths are acceptable for pain reduction, but no panel gets a 5 out of 5 score for pain relief. Panels take longer to reduce pain than devices that sit directly on the skin. The best pain relief red light therapy is the Visum Light.
Red and infrared light have a significant effect on acne and eczema. The best acne therapy also includes blue light to kill the P acnes bacteria. Mito Red Light is one of my favorite brands for its customer service, high-quality products, and the science it puts into its devices.
