The Pride Elite Traveller is one of the most popular mobility scooters for sale today.
I have three mobility scooters, two of which are Go-Go Elite Traveller models.
First, it’s made and serviced by Pride Mobility, the leader in mobility scooters.
Second, it’s a solid performer indoors but still handles hills and muddy grass outdoors (I know; I tested it).
The new Traveller (The Traveller 2) has many recreational-luxury options for your comfort.
In this Pride Mobility Go Go Elite Traveller 2 Review, you will learn this scooter’s objective scores for these features:
- Safety
- Disability
- Portability
- Indoors
- Outdoors/All-Terrain
- Short People
- Tall People
- Heavy People

What is the Pride Mobility Go Go Elite Traveller 2 Mobility Scooter?
Check prices: | Best for Average Size and Short People | Disability + Weakness
|
Pride Mobility makes 34 mobility scooters, and the Traveller Elite is their most popular model.
It is small enough to be portable but large enough to be comfortable and used safely outdoors.
Comparing its strengths to its weaknesses, the Go-Go Elite Traveller is best for average- and short-sized people and those with disabilities of the arms or hands, and individuals with mobility impairments.
I’m 5 ft. 3 in. (short). The seat is only 16 inches from the floor so I can put my feet directly on the deck.
But if you lend the Elite Traveller to a taller person, you can lift the seat 3 inches for their comfort.
The ambidextrous (either hand) tiller (steering) and throttle offer several advantages for people with arm and hand disabilities.
You can operate the throttle and use the tiller to steer with either hand.
Safety Features
The Traveller 2 has automatic brakes that stop the scooter when you let go of the throttle, a horn, and anti-tip wheels in the back for protection while on steeper-than-rated inclines.
You can treat yourself to optional mirrors and a seat belt for extra safety.
Safety
- Width-adjustable, removable padded armrests get out of the way
- Front basket
- Extra charging port on tiller
- Mobility aid hitch
- Adjustable seat height
- 360-degree swivel seat
- Angle-adjustable tiller
- Optional
- 4-wheel stability
- Automatic brakes
- Horn
- 6-degree incline rated and rear anti-tip wheels
- Optional mirrors
- Optional safety belt
- No lights or turn signals
- No alarm
Disability Features
The Traveller has some solid features for disability assistance, including width-adjustable, padded flip-up armrests.
They’re there for you when you need them and out of your way when you don’t.
The tiller angles toward or away from you to bring you the steering and controls or to create more legroom.
The seat height adjusts 3 inches in 1-inch increments. It also rotates 360 degrees for each get-on and off the scooter.
The throttle is ambidextrous (you can use either hand), so it does not require right-hand operation, as some throttle designs do.
The delta tiller has a large surface area to steer with either hand.
The hitch connector allows you to attach optional crutch and oxygen carriers.
Disability
- Width-adjustable, removable padded armrests get out of the way
- Front basket
- Extra charging port on tiller
- Mobility aid hitch
- Adjustable seat height
- 360-degree swivel seat
- Angle-adjustable tiller
- Optional
- Width-adjustable, removable padded armrests

- 3-in. height-adjustable seat
- Ambidextrous (either hand) tiller for steering
- Large, wrap-around tiller for easy gripping
- Ambidextrous throttle
- 360 deg. seat rotation for easy on/off
- Hitch receptor for an optional crutch and oxygen storage
- Optional mirrors
- Optional safety belt
Missing Disability
- Solid wheels and no suspension do not protect from road bumps
- Half-back seat with a thin cushion and no headrest
Portable Mobility Scooter Features (Disassembly Travel Scooter)
The Elite Traveller is car trunk, airline, and cruise ship friendly.
The mobility scooter is easy to take apart.
When you have five smaller pieces, they’re easy to lift into the car trunk for portability.
It’s straightforward to disassemble.
You remove the seat by pressing a lever and lifting it.
Then, you pull the battery pack, which is secured via Velcro.
A lever allows you to separate the front and back half of the chassis. Pride calls this the “feather-touch” disassembly.
The basket pops out of its brace.
Voila, you have five pieces in a minute, now smaller and lighter.
It has airline-approved batteries so that you can take it on vacation.
The Elite Traveller’s 20-inch chassis will fit through standard 24-inch stateroom doors if that vacation is on a cruise ship.
The heaviest piece, when disassembled, is only 35 lb. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that 35 lb. might still be too heavy for some users.
A truly lightweight and portable mobility scooter won’t have the features that the Pride has. It’s a trade-off.
The video shows how to remove the scooter from the car trunk.
Portability
- Airline-friendly batteries
- Feather-touch disassembly
- It easily comes apart into pieces to store in the car trunk
- 35 lb. heaviest piece
- 20 in. width passes through 24 in. standard cruise doors.
Missing Portability
- 35 lb. is not “lightweight” for everyone
Indoor Mobility Scooter Features
The Traveller rates 100% on the Indoor Score.
Pride had equipped the Traveller 4-wheel with a patented turning mechanism.
It needs only 37 inches to do a U-turn, which is very competitive with 3-wheel mobility scooters.
There is no reason to buy a 3-wheel when you can get turning performance like this from a 4-wheel.
It’s only 20 inches wide, so there’s plenty of room to go through doorways and hallways, even if they’re unusually narrow.
Indoor
- 24 in. width easily passes through standard 32 in. doors.
- 37 in. turning radius is almost as tight as the best 3-wheel mobility scooters
Missing Indoor
- Nothing
All-Terrain + Outdoor Features
The Traveller has a 6-degree incline rating. I’ve tested it on steep hills, and the results were impressive.
It had no problem carrying me up a steep hill in Manchester (NH).
I tested it going downhill on the same road. The automatic brake immediately kicked in when I let go of the throttle.
Despite that I was pointing downhill, the Traveller came to a complete and safe stop.
I tested the Traveller on the hill on my front lawn.
The grass was wet from sprinklers and dew, so the Traveler’s traction was impressive.
At about 3/4 of the way up, the hill was too much for the scooter’s motor. I tried this three times, and the scooter shut itself off at the same spot each time.
It protected itself from damage as I was asking too much of the motor.
Each time, the automatic brakes kicked in, and the scooter came to a complete stop.
Pointing uphill at a full stop, I reset the breaker and had no trouble finishing the hill to the top.
I found its upper limit, which was much stronger than I expected.
The safety brakes kicking in were like a guardian angel saving me from testing the scooter’s limits.
The Traveller has anti-tip wheels in the back. I didn’t have a camera back there, so I don’t know if they kicked in.
The tires are solid, meaning you don’t need to fill them with air, and they don’t go flat.
In exchange for that convenience, you do feel every time there’s a gap in the road.
The ground clearance is low at 1.38 inches. It’s not an off-road scooter, and this is one of the features that is decidedly not “all terrain.”
You feel every bump in the road is not just the solid tires but also the lack of suspension.
The Traveller has a nice spattering of all-terrain features, given that it’s not meant to be an off-road scooter.
All-Terrain/Outdoor
- 6-degree incline rated and anti-tip rear wheels
- Solid flat-free tires
Missing AT/Outdoor
- Half-back (small-ish) seat
- 1.38 in. ground clearance
Short Person Features
The Traveller 2 is an excellent mobility scooter for short people.
The 40-inch length is average for a full-size mobility scooter and not overly long.
There are only 16 inches of space from the deck to the seat, making it easier for your feet to reach the floor without strain.
You can angle the tiller toward you so that the tiller and controls are easily in reach without stretching your arms.
For Short People
- 40 in. length puts the rider close to the steering and controls
- Feet reach the floor with only 16 in. space from seat to deck
- Angle-adjustable tiller to bring steering and controls closer to you
Not for Short People
- None
Tall Person Features
The Traveller 2 is not a tall-person mobility scooter, but it does have a few features that will make a taller rider more comfortable.
The scooter is 40 inches long, the average for a full-size model. It’s just 16 inches from the deck to the seat, an advantage for short people but not tall ones.
The height-adjustable seat and angle-adjustable tiller help taller riders. The seat allows more legroom; the tiller can add to that space when angled away.
For Tall People
- 3-in. height-adjustable seat
- Angle-adjustable tiller
Not for Tall People
- Short 40-in. long deck
- Short 16 in. from seat to deck
- The seat does not recline or slide
Heavy Person Features
The Traveller has a 300-lb. weight capacity, width-adjustable armrests, and a rotating seat, making life more comfortable for larger users.
The solid tires and average 17 x 17 x 17 in. are for someone up to 300 lbs, as it’s not a true bariatric mobility scooter.
For Heavy People
- Width-adjustable, removable padded armrests get out of the way
- 300 lb. weight capacity
- Seat rotates for easier on/off
- Angle-adjustable tiller to make room
Not for Heavy People
- The seat does not slide back to make room
- 17 x 17 x 17 half-back seat
- Solid tires and lack of suspension, so no ride cushioning
Luxury-Recreational Features
The Traveller has flip-up, padded armrests, a front basket, and a conveniently placed charging port on the tiller.
It comes standard with a rotating seat with height adjustability and an angle-adjustable tiller to make you more comfortable.
It has a hitch connector for adding mobility aids. You can also use that to attach a third-party towable cart.
You can treat yourself to an optional storage box, an extra basket, a cup holder, mirrors, and a USB charging port.
Luxury/Recreation
- Width-adjustable, removable padded armrests get out of the way
- Front basket
- Extra charging port on tiller
- Mobility aid hitch
- Adjustable seat height
- 360-degree swivel seat
- Angle-adjustable tiller
- Optional
- Crutch and oxygen tank mobility aid storage
- Storage box
- Under-seat storage
- Back-of-seat bag
- Rear basket
- Phone holder
- Cup holder
- Mirrors
- USB port
Missing Lux/Rec
- Lithium battery upgrade for lighter weight and less recharging
- Bluetooth speaker
- Digital dashboard
- Odometer
- Range is 8.8 miles, 4.24 mph speed
- The seat is barely padded, with no reclining or sliding
- No lights or turn signals
Riding the Scooter: What It’s Like
The funniest thing (to me) about the Pride is that the 4.23 mph speed limit is more than enough. When you first take off from a complete stop, there are actual G forces that tell you you’re moving.
No, it’s not like racing a car, and yes, it’s only 4 mph, but it feels fast.
The 2nd thing that strikes me is the automatic brake.
No matter how many times I ride my scooter, the first time I let go of the throttle, I’m surprised that it comes to a complete stop.
I love that feature; there is no thinking involved.
It saved me when I lost power going up a hill too steep for this model.
That wasn’t the scooter’s fault. I was pushing its limits. It came to a complete stop 3/4 of the way up the hill. It did NOT roll backward because the automatic brakes were on.
I used the Traveller to set up the fall seeding in my yard.
Is the Pride Elite Traveller for You?
The Traveller is popular because it combines sturdy reliability with portability.
It is suitable for average-size and short people, and is designed to aid individuals with mobility impairments.
I would not recommend it for people with pain issues, but it is appropriate for other disabilities such as those with fibromyalgia, paraplegia, chronic fatigue, breathing issues, Parkinson’s or MS, amputees and seniors.
It has 4-wheel mobility scooter stability, unlike 3 wheel counterparts. It’s car-, cruise- and airplane-portable, with a heaviest piece that’s among the lightest out there.
Pride’s patented EZ Turn technology allows the Traveller to do a U-turn using 37 inches, which is inline with 3-wheel performance.
The Traveller is an indoor, outdoor, portable mobility scooter with 4-wheel stability and 3-wheel maneuverability.
Pride Mobility Go-Go Elite Traveller 2 Review Wrap-Up
I tend to choose my Pride Traveller for a ride because it’s sturdy, stable, and fun.
When riding the Golden Technologies Buzzaround Carry-on and the Pride Elite Traveller on the same day, I felt better in the Pride seat.
The Pride scores high for being an indoor-outdoor vehicle. It is gentle for indoor use and tough enough to go uphill on wet grass.
As long as that hill isn’t too steep.
This is one of the scooters we take to the beach.
The battery lasts hours, and the storage basket is perfect for carrying my drink and bag.
You can add storage baskets, oxygen and crutch carriers, and a USB port to charge your phone.
It’s popular because it’s so easy to use indoors and outdoors as a portable mobility scooter.
It’s an especially good choice for short people and for those with arm or hand disabilities, such as amputees and people with arthritis or fibromyalgia.
Pride Elite Traveller 4-Wheel Customer Reviews
I gathered some Pride GoGo Elite Traveller review samples from around the web.
Due to spinal issues I can’t walk for long periods of time. This scooter has given me my life back.
It’s super easy to put in the back of my SUV and head out! It’s light enough for my teens to lift in and out of the car it comes apart easy to make smaller if needed.
Runs over all kinds of terrain and battery seems to last forever. Mine has lights on it so I can use it at night too. The turning radius is a little bigger than the 3 wheeler and take some getting used to. I do prefer this over the 3 wheeler because the 4th wheel gives it more stability on rougher terrain. I had no problem going over thresholds and rocky areas.
Took this on vacation and was able to spend the whole day riding around with my family. The battery never went out on me and I traveled over 6 miles per charge.

When the Pride scooter arrived, the box & packaging were pretty torn up. Fortunately, as I unpacked it, the scooter & parts were pristine! Easy to put together, and had a full battery right out of the box.
Ran the scooter up a steep gravel driveway, and took the hill like Teddy Roosevelt storming the hills of San Juan! Yay!
Took the scooter to an Air Show and it rolled right through a makeshift parking area, located in high grass, like a champ! Rolled right through a cinder, rocky area with ease, and gave my wife access to areas that would’ve left her in lots of pain if she’d had to walk through them.
Battery is still new, but the battery life was excellent for this all-day event, and barely ticked down at all.
This little scooter is a game changer!
We’re planning more trips to fairs and festivals, and look forward to spending more time outdoors again.
This scooter is easy to disassemble and fits in the back of my car, along with 3 camp chairs, umbrellas, and a small cooler.
All I all, we’re extremely satisfied with the Pride Elite Traveller Plus, and would highly recommend it!

Love going to parks & gardens but as leg issues worsened my ability to get around decreased drastically.
This scooter is perfect for me. I haul it in the back of my Kia with1 seat down. Only remove seat & battery. I fold down the handlebar put it on neutral. I can then pick up front end & put on back of car, pick up the rear & wheel it all the way in.
It’s wonderful that I can now enjoy long “walks” again with my husband. Knowing that I’m able to go out on my own & use this is a huge plus.
This is easy to assemble & disassemble, long battery life, easy maneuverability & variable speeds. The seat pivots to the side for easy on/off & is handy for limited outdoor seating as I can pull alongside a table & turn seat sideways & stay seated on scooter.
Highly recommend for anyone with mobility issues. No reason to miss out on the pleasures of leisure time
